Summary
Lord of the Fantastic, published in August 1998, is a tribute anthology
to Roger Zelazny, full of stories by his friends, admirers, and "bastard writer-children",
as Neil Gaiman puts it. It's packed full of twenty original stories, two reprints,
an introduction by Fred Saberhagen, and a closing by Gerald Hausman which almost seems
to be fiction, but apparently is a true telling of how they wound up collaborating on
Wilderness. Each author wrote a personal afterward for his or
her story, talking about how he or she knew Zelazny, and relating various anecdotes and memories.
On the whole, it's a very well-done anthology, tribute, and remembrance.
