The game Nine Princes in Amber was published in 1985 (or 1987?), by the company Telarium, which no longer seems to exist. The game, based on Zelazny's Nine Princes in Amber and The Guns of Avalon, is an old text-engine game, with graphics. This means, basically, that your interaction with the game is primarily through textual descriptions and commands, though different rooms/scenes have unique static images which are displayed above the text.
The game came out on the following platforms:
Here's a downloadable .zip which is cracked to allow you to run and save the game without needing a floppy drive. This version is courtesy of Underdogs which has a page of its own for the game.
There's also a copy available of the Commodore 64 version, which is supposed to have better graphics. To play this, you'll need to use an emulator such as VICE.
Unzip the game anywhere on your hard drive, and run the "crack.com" program. Then run "amb.exe" to begin the game.
Basic commands:
Playing the game is pretty simple...type english verb/noun combinations until stuff works.
I've got two versions of the manual; one I scanned, and one in .txt form which was passed on to me by a visitor (thank you!).
